The only worthwhile achievements in one's life are
those which are socially useful.

A group of women who wanted to translate the above into action came together and in l992 Adyar Exnora Women’s Guild came into being. Since then this organization has been striving hard for the betterment of the poor, needy, handicapped and the under privileged members of the society. Today, the Guild has 70 women volunteers who are totally dedicated and committed to the cause the Guild  stands for.

The Guild has the following achievements to its credit.

Has given financial assistance of Rupees one lakh to the Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu for making an approach road.

Has helped an organization called SEED (run for the welfare of the children of those undergoing life imprisonment in jail) by providing Rupees forty five thousands  for digging a bore well.

The guild has been making efforts to create awareness among the public about donating their eyes. Two of our members and their family members have donated their eyes after death.

It imparts tailoring skills to selected girls from neighboring slums to make them self reliant and economically independent.

It has also provided  a library of 400 audio cassettes of  study materials for the visually challenged university students of Chennai.

In February 2000 a trust by the name of Darshini was formed

As the number of volunteers increased and the Guild felt confident of  focusing  on one major project, in February 2000 a trust by name Darshini was formed for the welfare and rehabilitation of the visually challenged University Students of Chennai.
