Volunteers are very helpful in trying to fulfill 
the needs of the visually challenged

Various activities are conducted in the Darshini center. These are some of them :

Darshini runs a centre for the visually challenged at one of our member's residence at Besant nagar.

We have an audio cassette library with 1500 audio cassettes consisting of the students study materials.

Financial assistance is given for higher education ( M.Phil, PhD.)

Workshops and lectures are arranged aiming at the overall personality development of the students.

Students are taken on one day picnics to places of interest to improve their general knowledge. They have been taken to Mahabalipuram, a historical place and Dakshin Chitra, a place portraying the south Indian cultural heritage

Students are taken to the beach occasionally where they enjoy playing in the water and try to see the beauty of the ocean through the sound of the waves. They have been taken aboard a ship to feel and enjoy a few hours onboard.

To encourage the sports talents in these students an open state level chess tournament was arranged. It was the first of its kind to be held in chennai. There was a very good response and in all, 49 students participated.

Inter collegiate talent competitions are held.

To improve their overall personality, a three day residential camp-VISION I was arranged in which 35 students participated. They were exposed to eminent speakers and artists from different walks of life . The students thoroughly enjoyed the camp and benefited a lot from this camp.

Medical help is provided when required.

Special  guidance is given to students learning vocal and instrumental music

Counselling is given to the diffident and the depressed.
